Il toc - The toc

THE TOC
It is a particular kind of polenta from Bellagio made with butter and cheese.
It is eaten all together sitting around a big copper pot from where it is directly taken by the guests using their own wooden spoon. It is called TOC (from the dialectal verb ‘to touch’), because it is touched with hands to make little polenta balls to eat. The lake tradition suggests taste it together with sun dried ‘missoltino’ fish (twaite shad) and boiled hen, better if this is free-range grown.
Once tasted all the menu, the ‘Ragel’ (a particular kind of mulled wine) is prepared in the same copper pot to aid digestion.
